Brave Space Virtual Group Coaching Program is curated for leaders like you who want to improve their communication skills and be the change in the workplace they want to see, but need the flexibility of a virtual program. It is a virtual 8-week, interactive, practical approach to leadership that helps you do the following:

  • Create a plan to develop your cross-cultural competence using cross-culturally valid and reliable assessments.
  • Get in-depth insights into how individuals and groups make sense of cultural differences, and also how they respond to cultural differences.
  • More accurately interpret the statements and actions of leaders and coworkers to effectively communicate ideas and resolve conflict.
  • Rethink how you provide and solicit feedback to promote cooperative learning.
  • Increase self-awareness of your communication style to effectively communicate ideas and resolve conflict.

Framework

  • April 23rd - June 11th 2025
  • 8 weeks of 2-hour virtual group workshops
  • Once a week on Wednesdays from 3-5pm EST
  • Five 1-on-1 virtual coaching sessions during or after the program

Week 01

IDI Cultural Competence Assessment & Coaching

The Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) is the only theory-based assessment of intercultural competence. Unlike other tools that measure separate personal characteristics (e.g., open-mindedness, flexibility), the IDI allows you to see an individual’s or group’s progression along a continuum of cross-cultural competence.

Because of this, the IDI provides in-depth insights into how you make sense of cultural differences (e.g. communication styles, political affiliation, race, gender, sexuality, etc.) and respond to them. The IDI measures both mindset and skillset.

You will:

  • Learn all the stages of the cultural competence and where the IDI places you.
  • Receive personalized assessment results and individualized development plan with action steps to increase your cultural competence
  • Schedule your 1 hour 1-on-1 debrief to help you understand your results

Week 02

ICS Conflict and Communication Assessment & Workshop #1

The Intercultural Conflict Style Inventory® (ICS®) helps participants resolve conflicts and solve problems across cultural boundaries. A three-part interactive workshop series follows the assessment.

You will:

  • Receive your communication and conflict style results
  • Increase cultural self-understanding of their own communication and conflict resolution approach.
  • Learn how your experiences and culture inform how you communicate and think about conflict.

Week 03

ICS Conflict and Communication Workshop #2

The Intercultural Conflict Style Inventory® (ICS®) helps participants resolve conflicts and solve problems across cultural boundaries. A three-part interactive workshop series follows the assessment.

You will:

  • Get an in-depth understanding of the four ICS communication styles
  • Learn the strengths and weakness of your style and others.
  • Understand how you make meaning of other people's styles, how others may make meaning from your style, and how we can get it wrong.

Week 04

ICS Conflict and Communication Workshop #3

The Intercultural Conflict Style Inventory® (ICS®) helps participants resolve conflicts and solve problems across cultural boundaries. A three-part interactive workshop series follows the assessment.

You will:

  • Increase understanding of diverse intercultural conflict styles among participants
  • Increase awareness of key differences in Direct/Indirect and Emotionally Expressive/Restrained strategies for resolving conflict
  • Apply the concepts and strategies of intercultural conflict styles to resolving conflicts
  • Identify goals and/or action steps to be more effective across styles
  • Recognize differences in problem-solving and conflict-resolution styles

Week 05 & 06

Brave Space Practice Workshop

Brave Space Practice explores the difference between "safe" and "brave" space and what you need to say and hear difficult things for growth and success.

You will:

  • Gain tools to have difficult conversations in the workplace.
  • Practice self-reflection to determine our role in solution-oriented decision-making.
  • Rethink the ways we provide and solicit feedback to promote cooperative learning.
  • Increase self-awareness, practice vulnerability, and work towards radical empathy.

Week 07

Building Healthy Boundaries for Effective Leadership

You will explore the essential principles of establishing clear boundaries in leadership. You will learn that boundaries are not barriers but tools for creating clarity, reducing burnout, and fostering trust. You will discover how setting limits can cultivate a culture of accountability, respect, and empowerment.

You will:

  • Define what boundaries mean in the context of leadership and recognize how they contribute to building a healthy work environment.
  • Explore the difference between personal and professional boundaries, and identify areas where setting boundaries can enhance well-being and performance.
  • Learn strategies for handling resistance to boundaries and navigating the common obstacles leaders face when implementing them.
  • Practice effective communication techniques for establishing and maintaining boundaries with teams and stakeholders.
  • Reflect on personal triggers, habits, and beliefs that may impact your ability to uphold boundaries consistently.

Week 08

Strengthening Leadership Through Advanced Boundary Strategies

Building on the foundational communication and boundaries-setting skills from the previous workshops, this advanced session takes a deeper dive into strategies for reinforcing and adapting boundaries in dynamic environments. You will learn how to apply boundary principles to manage complex relationships, encourage accountability, and support team growth while protecting your own well-being as a leader.

You will:

  • Learn advanced techniques to reinforce boundaries in challenging scenarios, such as high-stakes projects and cross-functional team dynamics.
  • Understand how clear boundaries promote team autonomy, ownership, and innovation, creating a high-performance work environment.
  • Create accountability structures that reinforce boundaries and encourage responsibility within the team, leading to a culture of trust and mutual respect.
  • Gain skills to evaluate and adjust boundaries as situations evolve, maintaining resilience and adaptability as a leader.
