What is Zora’s House?
Zora’s House is a non-profit that provides women of color and gender expansive people of color with the space, the skills, and the strategic connections they need to thrive, personally and professionally.


What do you do there? (Also: What kind of programs do you offer?)
As an organization, we give women of color what they need to grow – whatever that might be at this moment. But typically it takes the form of one of three things: Space, Skills, or Strategic Connections:

  • Space: For some, they use our coworking, shared offices, and retreat space, as a safe haven to connect with others and work towards their own dreams.
  • Skill building: If women are looking to build skills, they may choose to enroll in programs like our HerWay Business Builder, Wealth Builder programs, or Leadership Fellows program.
  • Strategic Connections: Whether you’re new to the community or born and raised in Central OH, Zora’s House members build connections with new mentors, collaborators, and supporters that they may never have met outside of ZH.

Brave Space Group Coaching for Women Leaders of Color is curated for community-focused women leaders of color. It is an in-person 6-week, interactive, practical approach to leadership that helps you do the following:

  • Create a plan to assert and respect boundaries at work and beyond.
  • More accurately interpret the statements and actions of others to effectively communicate ideas and resolve conflict.
  • Rethink how you provide and solicit feedback to promote cooperative learning.
  • Increase self-awareness of your communication style to effectively communicate ideas and resolve conflict.
  • Gain tools for difficult, yet solution-focused conversations.

Framework

  • March 5th - April 9th 2025
  • 6 weeks
  • 2-hour in-person group workshops
  • Once a week on Wednesdays from 6-8pm
  • Six customized 1-hour virtual 1-on-1 coaching

Her credentials include a Cornell University Certified Diversity and Inclusion Professional designation and executive coaching certification from the University of California, Berkeley.

Week 01

ICS Conflict and Communication Assessment & Workshop #1

The Intercultural Conflict Style Inventory® (ICS®) helps participants resolve conflicts and solve problems across cultural boundaries. A three-part interactive workshop series follows the assessment.

You will:

  • Receive your communication and conflict style results
  • Increase cultural self-understanding of your communication and conflict-resolution approach
  • Learn how your experiences and culture inform how you communicate and think about conflict

Week 02

ICS Conflict and Communication Workshop #2

You will:

  • Get an in-depth understanding of the four ICS communication styles
  • Learn the strengths and weaknesses of your style and others
  • Understand how you make meaning of other people's styles, how others may make meaning from your style, and how you can get it wrong

Week 03

ICS Conflict and Communication Workshop #3

You will:

  • Increase understanding of diverse intercultural conflict styles
  • Increase awareness of key differences in Direct/Indirect and Emotionally Expressive/Restrained strategies for resolving conflict
  • Apply the concepts and strategies of intercultural conflict styles to resolving conflicts
  • Identify goals and/or action steps to be more effective across styles
  • Recognize differences in problem-solving and conflict-resolution styles

Week 04

Brave Space Practice Workshop

Brave Space Practice explores the difference between "safe" and "brave" space and what you need in order to say and hear difficult things for your growth and success.

You will:

  • Gain tools to have difficult conversations in the workplace
  • Practice self-reflection to determine your role in solution-oriented decision-making
  • Rethink the ways we provide and solicit feedback to promote cooperative learning
  • Increase self-awareness
  • Practice vulnerability and work towards radical empathy

Week 05

Building Healthy Boundaries for Effective Leadership

You will explore the essential principles of establishing clear boundaries in leadership. You will learn that boundaries are not barriers but tools for creating clarity, reducing burnout, and fostering trust. You will discover how setting limits can cultivate a culture of accountability, respect, and empowerment.

You will:

  • Define what boundaries mean in the context of leadership and recognize how they contribute to building a healthy work environment
  • Explore the difference between personal and professional boundaries, and identify areas where setting boundaries can enhance well-being and performance
  • Learn strategies for handling resistance to boundaries and navigating the common obstacles leaders face when implementing them
  • Practice effective communication techniques for establishing and maintaining boundaries with teams and stakeholders
  • Reflect on personal triggers, habits, and beliefs that may impact your ability to uphold boundaries consistently

Week 06

Strengthening Leadership Through Advanced Boundary Strategies

Building on the foundational communication and boundaries-setting skills from the previous workshops, this advanced session takes a deeper dive into strategies for reinforcing and adapting boundaries in dynamic environments. You will learn how to apply boundary principles to manage complex relationships, encourage accountability, and support team growth while protecting your own well-being as a leader.

You will:

  • Learn advanced techniques to reinforce boundaries in challenging scenarios, such as high-stakes projects and cross-functional team dynamics
  • Understand how clear boundaries promote team autonomy, ownership, and innovation, creating a high-performance work environment
  • Create accountability structures that reinforce boundaries and encourage responsibility within the team, leading to a culture of trust and mutual respect
